About the Schools Tour

Our educational tours offer a truly memorable experience which will unlock new levels of understanding and appreciation.

Our air raid shelters provide an authentic, immersive and evocative connection to wartime Bristol which will leave a deep and impactful impression on your students.

Your group will be met in front of the Corn Exchange by an ARP Warden in period dress who will describe the onset of the Bristol Blitz. You will then see evidence of damage suffered on the 24th of November 1940 and learn how that night changed the face of Bristol forever more.

Your group will then head beneath the streets to explore the biggest public air raid shelter in the Old Town. A complete time capsule and hidden gem.

Your ARP warden will guide you through various rooms which have remained untouched for over 80 years whilst describing life on the home front.

You'll see original posters which remain in place and even observe beautiful drawings created by Bristolians as bombs fell on the streets above.

For the final part of your tour, you will all sit down for a 15 minute presentation and demonstration of key items from our extensive collection of artifacts and memorabilia.

We then finish with a 10 minute Q&A session before heading back above the streets and back into the present day.

Tours generally take place on Wednesdays and last between 60 - 75 minutes. The price of a tour is £140 for 30 students and up to 6 members of staff.

Just send us an email with your preferred dates/times and specific requirements and we'll be happy to get back to you.
